PhD Scholarships for international students at Shenzhen, China

We invite applications from international students for Ph.D. scholarships in biomedicine with a focus on neuroscience at the Faculty of Life and Health Sciences and the Brain Cognition and Brain Disease Institute at the Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences  (SIAT) . The SIAT was authorized as a school campus for graduate programs at the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences. Our Doctoral programs commonly last for 3-4 years, and funding is provided.

The Faculty has a team of scientists with an international background which includes members of the Royal Canadian Academy of Sciences and the German Academy of Sciences. All faculty members have received scientific training abroad at top-ranked universities, including Harvard Medical School and Stanford University in the United States, Cambridge University in the

United Kingdom, and Charite University Medicine in Germany. For more information on the research topics of the principal investigators, see http://bcbdi.siat.ac.cn/index.php/member/index.shtml#desc

The scientific areas range from fundamental neuroscience, including synaptic physiology, neuron-glia interaction, and characterization of neural circuits, to the study of brain diseases, including Alzheimer's disease, depression, pain, and stress-related responses. The faculty is involved in developing novel technologies, including novel vectors for tracing connections, brain imaging, advanced optogenetic technologies, and novel approaches to studying animal behavior and therapeutics for treating brain diseases.

Shenzhen is one of the novel international centers in China and the central city in the Pearl River Delta that, along with Hong Kong and Macao, form the Greater Bay Area. It is an international city and a hub of technology, research, and development in the Greater Bay Area.  Major global operating companies have their headquarters in Shenzhen, such as Huawei, a leader in communication technology.
