Dr. Shan's research focuses on the neural mechanisms of human/non-human primate brain functions and the pathology of brain disorders. She employs pattern recognition and machine learning methods, combined with EEG/SEEG/spike/MRI data analysis techniques, to investigate the neural basis of cognitive functions and brain functional abnormalities associated with diseases. Her work also extends to developing closed-loop brain–computer interfaces as novel tools for therapeutic neural modulation.
