Team's research interests:
(1)Transsynaptic tracing of neural circuits using neurotropic viruses is widely used in defining the synaptic organization of neural networks. Through systematic modification and optimization, we are focusing on the development of rigorous, low toxic and high-brightness transmulti-/monosynaptic HSV1 tracer systems, which can be applied to neural connectome mapping, tumor neural circuit dissection, etc.
(2)Oncolytic virotherapy has become one of the most potential treatments for malignant tumors. Engineered HSV oncolytic virus drugs T-VEC (2015) and G47Δ (2021) were approved for melanoma and glioma treatment in the US and Japan, respectively. We are focusing on the development and quality evaluation of novel HSV oncolytic virus drugs for solid tumors therapy.

Associate investigator of Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences. I am one of the core researchers in NMPA Key Laboratory for Research and Evaluation of Viral Vector Technology in Cell and Gene Therapy Medicinal Products, and Shenzhen Key Laboratory of Viral Vectors for Biomedicine. More than 20 invention patents have been applied, and 5 have been authorized. Hosted projects: the Youth Fund and general project of the National Foundation of China, general/key projects in Guangdong and Shenzhen, and participated in the projects of "Brain Science and Brain-like Intelligence Technology-National Science and Technology Major Project", National Key Research and Development Program of China, Strategic Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, etc. Published/co-published more than 30 SCI papers in Nature, PNAS, Cell research, Cell Stem Cell, Emerging microbes & infections, etc. I’m the editorial board member of Scientific Reports magazine, and the standing committee member of Shenzhen Special Committee for Detection and Evaluation of Cell and Genetic Products.
