Dr. Jin BAO is Principal Investigator of Neuroscience in Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). She received her Bachelor’s degree of Biomedical Engineering from Zhejiang University in China and PhD of Neuroscience from Goettingen University in Germany. After receiving her PhD, she conducted postdoctoral research as Marie Curie Fellow at the Laboratory of Brain Physiology of the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) in Paris. In 2014, she returned to China from Europe and worked at the School of Life Sciences, University of Science and Technology of China, as an associate researcher. She joined the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, as Principal Investigator in 2020.

Her research focuses on the brain network mechanisms underlying motor and emotional control by applying multidisciplinary approaches to understand the brain's "language": how the brain encodes information into patterns of electrical and chemical signals.

Dr. Bao was awarded the Excellent Young Researcher Grant (Class A) from National Science Foundation of China (NSFC).  Her research work has been published in leading neuroscience journals, such as Cell and Neuron. In the past five years, her work has been selected twice among the"Top Ten Advances in Life Sciences in China" and twice among the "Important Advances in Neuroscience in China". In 2019 one paper was selected as one of the nine"Best of Cell" papers. She has led multiple national research projects and Strategic Priority Research Program of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. She co-directs the China-EU joint laboratory for neuromodulation and holds several international collaborating grants.
