He received his B.Sc. in Biotechnology from Sun Yat-sen University and his Ph.D. in Cell Biology from the University of Science and Technology of China.He was a visiting scholar at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston and the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and conducted postdoctoral research at the Pasteur Institute in France.He has 20 years of teaching and research experience in electron microscopy.He served as an Associate Professor at Zhejiang University from 2016 to 2020.Currently, he is a Principal Investigator at the Institute of Brain Cognition and Brain Disease, Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
His research is mainly devoted to the multiscale structural visualization of key membrane proteins and their complexes, as well as the molecular mechanisms underlying related biological processes, using cryo-electron microscopy single-particle analysis, electron tomography, and associated biochemical approaches.
He has published multiple papers as first author and corresponding author in high-impact international journals including Cell Research, Nature Communications, and Nature Structural & Molecular Biology, with his most highly cited paper receiving over 200 citations.
He is leading and has led projects including the National Brain Program from the Ministry of Science and Technology and grants from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and has participated as a core member in the National Key R&D Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology.
